Freifunk is a project for free WLAN on the whole island.

People like you and I can build a wireless data network, for free communication on the entire island and also nationwide. So-called Freifunk nodes are operated by volunteers in many places. Internet access is often available. Not only is it free, it's open too!

Anyone can use the network and expand it themselves.

With Freifunk nodes. These are routers with antennas (similar to those you already know from other wireless Internet access). Any WLAN-enabled device, such as a cell phone or notebook, can connect to the network near a node and communicate with other participants.

Aber Spaß beiseite: Manchmal kann es sinnvoll sein, einen sichtbaren Hinweis zu platzieren, dass man einen Freifunk-Router betreibt.

Nicht jeder läuft hier als "Smombie" über die Insel, den Blick fest auf das Display des Smartphones gebannt auf der Suche nach einem freien WLAN-Zugang. Zum Glück!

Die Aufkleber aus dem Jahr 2016 sind unseres Wissens nach vergriffen und im Moment haben wir keine zusätzlichen Mittel für den Druck neuer Aufkleber verfügbar.
